POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Pressroom Supervisor is responsible for shift schedule to include: Work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee beaks, overtime assignment, back-up for absent employees, and shift rotations. Responsible for all work performed in the pressroom. Manage production in the department; responsible for productivity, quality, timeliness, and cost control of work in the pressroom. Assign work and give instructions to staff.
- Coordinate press startups, shutdowns, and changeovers while meeting shift productions goals.
Completes shift paper work
Responsible for quality control
Make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce print product(s) with specifications.
Reject product(s) outside of specifications.
Ensures compliance with established facility safety policies and procedures and other regulations
Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Two to five years pressroom experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have working knowledge of a newspaper press and computer to-plate technology
Must be able to maintain a safe work environment and good housekeeping practices
Prior leadership skills, process knowledge and delegation in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills
Physical Requirement: Close eye work, sitting, walking, standing, reaching lifting 30-50 pounds (per safety policy).
