Content That Works

POSITION DESCRIPTION:  The Custom Content Specialist is responsible for selling custom content projects to businesses locally and nationally for Content That Works; meeting and exceeding sales goals; and bringing in new business through prospecting, in-person appointments and conducting sales assessments. This position is key to expanding this new area of business, identifying particular industries to target and developing an overall plan for growing our custom content offerings.


  • Monitoring and growing content marketing sales
    Leading conversations with internal and external stakeholders—clients, teammates, senior management—about complex, multi-faceted ideas and programs
    Working alongside director to lead creative vision for ambitious campaigns and programs
    Manage the sales relationship with clients and prospects (preparing sales material and presentations, finding new prospects, managing sales, negotiations, contractual and billing follow up, coordination with marketing ops for promotional and technical needs)
    Develop long term relationships with key players across markets
    Identify opportunities for networking and marketing services, including industry specific conferences and networking events
    Create sales documents and tools aligned with guidelines and strategies
    Working with marketing functions to ensure timely campaign management
    Identify targets, generate and qualify leads
    Work to achieve daily, weekly and monthly goals for Not Ready/Available %, attendance, tardiness and monthly sales goals
    Participate in staff meetings and training as it is scheduled
    Performs other duties as assigned by management

Requirements, minimum education level, and experience:

  • Two year college degree in Business or Marketing preferred, or successful phone sales experience
    One year experience in sales preferred
    Previous experience in advertising sales or copy/layout is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to interact and communicate with people over the telephone and in emails in a professional and concise manner.
    Ability to be persuasive and handle sales objections.
    Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting and selling products or services over the phone.
    Excellent oral, written and comprehension of English.
    Ability to manage multiple projects in a professional manner.
    Demonstrated conflict resolution for handling client or prospect complaints/problems
    Analytical skills and good work ethics
    Ability to work independently according to procedures and policies given
    Experience using Microsoft Word and MS Outlook (or similar email applications)
    Strong organizational skills
    Attention to detail

Physical Requirement

Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, hearing, speaking and writing; close eye work on computer screen; required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop; light to moderate lifting 15-30 pounds.
